I am writing these few lines to let you know that we are
still in the process of reaching our goal to purchase a Handicapped Equipped
van for the family of Xiomara P. Fuentes who is disabled and unable to travel
outside the home because of lack of adequate transportation.
Xiomara, age 15 was born with a rare genetic disorder called
Rett Syndrome that affects the way the brain develops and occurs almost
exclusively in girls. Its symptoms
include but are not limited to, slowed growth, loss of normal movement and
coordination, loss of communication and thinking abilities, abnormal hand
movements, unusual eye movements, breathing problems, irritability, abnormal
behaviors, seizures, abnormal curvature of the spine (scoliosis) and
constipation.
Other than her travels to school, hospital visits and doctor’s
appointments, Xiomara has been confined to her home sincer her early years
because of need of special transportation.
A special child, she is, though unable to hear birds sing in the park,
feel the ocean breeze or even visit her family, like ordinary kids, because the
family has no means of getting her to these places. She lives in a troubled neighborhood where
her parents’ two previous vehicles were stolen and has to endure the sounds of
gunfire and screeching tires of reckless drivers.
We’ve had a successful Block Party and have participated
with various groups like the Mendez Jeep Club, Newark Explorers, Aspira and
some of elected city officials will be holding a motorcycle run to raise monies
up in OCC County, Orange County, New York, for Xiomara’s Dream. All this was done with the sole purpose of
getting the necessary funds for the purchase and maintenance of the van. We will not stop until our goal is met.
On Saturday, October 15th, 2011 8PM-2AM, The
Dream Continues with a fundraising dance at El Gurabo Social Club – 39 Arlington
Ave, Newark NJ 07104 featuring Newark’s new musical sensation, Afrocuba along with DJ Antz we very
much would like you and your firm to be an important ingredient of this humble,
humanitarian effort. Please note that
there will be a Free Buffet along with many fabulous friends joining us that
day. I have enclosed a number of tickets
hoping that you will take part in this attempt.
Help make this a reality for Ximara’s parents. Please note that all donations should be made
payable to: A Dream for Xiomara which is a tax-deductible fund set up for this
purpose. Our assigned IRS# is 45-2666885. Feel free to contact me at (862) 237-5059 or
at by e-mail at busymom2875@yahoo.com
with any questions or concerns you may have regarding the above mentioned.
Thanking you in advance for your interest in assisting the
Fuentes Quintana Family in this charitable quest and hoping to see you at our
event I remain,
Yours Truly
